Quora

Originated from the Latin word “Quorum” which refers to a group of people who come together to try and reach a consensus. Quora is co-founded by Adam D’Angelo and Charlie Cheever in June 2009.

The Switch

In 2017, I switched from Facebook to Quora. Looking back now, I realized that it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. While Facebook is a great application to keep in contact with friends and families, part of me always felt that I was wasting my time scrolling through the news feed on Facebook.

After a series of events, I decided to deactivate my Facebook account and create a new Quora account instead. Quora is a Q&A website for anyone to ask questions and post answers. I followed founders, professors and even high school students on Quora. Throughout my journey on Quora, I have learned from people from all walks of life.

Here are the 3 key benefits that i have gained after i started using Quora

  1. Gaining New knowledge (E.g. Learning about the extensive North Vietnamese tunnel system during the Vietnam War)
  2. Getting Inspired (Plenty of inspirational stories on Quora)
  3. Sharing Your Knowledge (Anyone can start answer questions and contribute to the site, just like medium!)
